Enslaved by a mask

“We all wear masks, and the time comes when
we cannot remove them without removing
some of our own skin.
- Andre Berthiaume

Enslaved by a mask

Unfortunately we live in a society where we are constantly judged for every aspect of our life from what we wear, our taste ,our family , our culture and tradition and because of this we find ourselves hiding who we are as to be a person we believe people will accept, Putting on a "mask" that destroys us the more we wear it the more we rely on it, and because of this we believe who we are is not good enough, and pick up traits like Low self esteem, depression ,fear and as a result a drop in morals

Willim Gibson
some of us don't feel the extreme pressure of societies harsh grip but despite what we might say or think we are all effected by and adding to society even in thee most subtlest of ways

but why?
why do we feel the need to fit in?
the need to be liked?
the need to be apart of something that seems to destroy us?

Could it be that our thoughts have been distorted ,our taste's influenced ,our choices pressured?

There isn't much one can do to break away from society unless by taking fairly drastic measures(moving to an abandoned island and starting a whole new population of free spirited hippies)...thing is whether we like it or not, we are apart of something bigger and greater.
We were all born into it..but that doesn't mean we have to allow it to influence and dictate who we are as individual beings. Conforming is something we all do, willingly or not, waking up in the morning and attending a 9-5 job, that's conforming..but we can and should find who we are in ourselves and fight for our inner identity and not let society dictate to us to the extent where our happiness is affected. Live in the moment, get arrested once in a while, wear what you want to and listen to whatever the hell it is that makes your heart sing. :)#FUQDAPOPO* NUDGE NUDGE WINK WINK.
